Steve's Iced Mocha

Anyone who tells you that Drinking Chocolate is a winter beverage is invited to stand deliciously corrected after trying this amazing Iced Mocha recipe, courtesy of the m cacao Kitchen Manager, Steve Yetman. Steve is famous among dozens for showing up every day with a killer work ethic, an awesome attitude, and a very large iced coffee. No frills, no fuss, no fancy extras, this iced mocha combines two things cold coffee lovers everywhere can appreciate: exceptionally high quality mocha flavors, and a strong hit of icy caffeinated boldness.

  • 5 ounces freshly brewed strong coffee
  • 2 tablespoons m cacao Drinking Chocolate, in your favorite flavor

Instructions

  1. Make yourself a cup of strong coffee using your favorite preparation method. French Press and percolator espresso both lend themselves especially well to Mocha.
  2. In a heat-proof bowl or cup, add your drinking chocolate mix and top with your hot coffee. Give it a stir to make sure there are no drinking chocolate clumps hanging out at the bottom.
  3. Let sit for 2 minutes. Try not to become completely intoxicated by the chocolate-coffee aroma filling your kitchen. (Good luck!)
  4. Thoroughly mix again, making sure that the drinking chocolate has completely melted and incorporated into the coffee. The elixir will be thick, glossy, and astoundingly fragrant. If you want to drink it hot, now is your moment. Pour it into your favorite mug and enjoy.
  5. If you're going to ice this down like Steve, once the drinking chocolate mix is fully melted let it hang out for 30 or so minutes until the mixture is room temperature.
  6. Pour over ice, top off with coffee, and enjoy!

Notes

It takes all of five minutes to make French Press, and then five or so minutes to do the mixing and the waiting on the Drinking Chocolate. You can also percolate espresso (how Marketing Director Mallory Viscardi makes this), and as always you can drink it hot. Not listed here is the amount of time it takes to chill the hot mocha down, but we do recommend you let it cool to just above room temperature before shaking with ice (maybe 30 minutes; you can also toss it in the fridge overnight so it's ready in the morning) so that the ice doesn't melt and dilute your cup of thick, chocolatey goodness.
